Assistant Director Public Safety & Transportation Services/Deputy Chief of Police

Potomac State College of West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director of Public Safety & Transportation/Deputy Chief of Police. In this vital role, the Deputy Chief of Police will provide departmental oversight and supervision to manage all patrol, enforcement, community services, and other activities of assigned shifts for the University Police department at Potomac State College. The University Police department enforces West Virginia state law and College rules and regulations, patrols campus property, handles traffic and parking matters, answers complaints, and conducts investigations stemming from complaints.
This position will report to the Chief of Police at West Virginia University and the Campus Provost at Potomac State College.
The minimum qualifications for this position include a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice or a related field or equivalent and four to six years of supervisory law enforcement experience, preferably in a University setting. Must be bondable. Must have and maintain a valid West Virginia driver’s license.
Paygrade: 21
Entry Rate: $43,171
FLSA Status: Exempt

Founded in 1901, Potomac State College is a predominantly two-year college offering eight Associate in Arts degrees and seven Associate in Applied Science degrees. A Bachelor of Applied Science degree is also offered, with emphases in Business Management and Criminal Justice.
The campus includes two classroom buildings, a library, an arts center, five residence halls, two operating farms, and athletic facilities supporting an inter-collegiate athletics program.
